7 Organic Quinoa Salad Recipes

When our food habits are quickly getting replaced by packed, canned and processed foods, I believe there are still people out there like me who are surely struggling to stick to their healthy and organic food diet as much as possible. In this era, I personally, find it really difficult to stick to organic foods in my everyday diet. Every processed food now contains gluten and I am very much aware of gluten and its adverse health effects to my body. This is why I look for gluten-free recipes to include in my diet.  But you don’t have to look any further. Quinoa solved all my problems. This is an extremely helpful ingredient that has cut my cooking load into half. Quinoa is an ingredient that will work with almost any recipe due to its amazing taste and nutrition. Here are 7 of my favorite quinoa salads, which I prepare more or less everyday. quinoa recipes Here I am sharing the recipes in details.

1. Avocado Salad with a Twist of Quinoa


  • 1 quinoa –  around 250 ml
  • 1-1/2 cup of finely chopped cucumber
  • 1/2 cup of finely grated onion
  • 1 cup of sliced sweet green pepper
  • Fresh parsley (around 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2/3 grated ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar or 1/3 cup of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped mint
  • Hot pepper sauce
  • Salt & Pepper –  as needed

Preparation 1. Rinse quinoa well to remove dirts and germs. In a medium sized saucepan, boil quinoa with one and a half cup of water in medium heat. Boil like this for around 10 to 12 minutes. 2. Now, mix chopped cucumber with salt. Keep it like that for 15 minutes and let the salt set on cucumber. Now mix freshly chopped onion, sweet green pepper and parsley with it. 3. For a tasty dressing, mix lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, mint, hot sauce, salt and pepper. 4. Now combine quinoa, cucumber, avocado, onion and dressing and serve it in a bowl.

 2. Curry Salad with Quinoa


  • 1 diced onion (not chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1/2 head cauliflower (chopped)
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups of sodium veg broth (low)
  • 2-3 tablespoons of curry powder
  • 1/2 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • Grated lettuce

Preparation: 1. Heat some olive oil in a medium sized pot. 2. Put the diced onion in the heated oil. Mix chopped cauliflower with it. 3. Add curry powder and cook for 2 minutes. 4. Now mix sodium veg broth and coconut milk and mix with the cooked items in the pot. Now cook till the cauliflower gets soft and the mixture gets more dense. 5. Add curry powder and salt as needed. 6. Last, mix quinoa and toss a few times to mix well. 7. Serve it with some lettuce.

3. Quinoa Apple Salad



  • 1/2 cup of toasted almonds
  • 1 cup of quinoa
  • 1 teaspoon of honey ( You can use sugar instead, if honey is not available)
  • 1 tablespoon of grated shallot
  • 2 tablespoons of white vinegar or fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of dried currants
  • 1 small sized fresh apple
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon of coarse salt
  • 2 tablespoons of dried currants
  • 1 teaspoon of curry powder
  • Ground pepper

Directions: 1. Rinse quinoa and boil it in 2 cups of water in a medium sized saucepan. Cover the pan and keep the heat medium. Boil for 15 minutes till the quinoa gets soft. 2. Meanwhile, mix honey, mint and shallot in a small bowl. Add curry powder, salt and lemon juice with it. Add some freshly ground pepper. 3. Add some extra virgin olive oil to the mixture. 4. Now pour the boiled quinoa and mix currants, apple and nuts and serve it in a bowl.

4. Quinoa Chicken Salad


  • 1 cup of cooked quinoa
  • 2 cups of diced cooked chicken
  • 1 cup of grated celery
  • 1/2 cup of well chopped onions
  • 1 cup  of cashew nuts (Chopped, but not finely chopped)
  • 1 cup of peas
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons of plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of curry powder

Preparation: 1. First boil a half cup of quinoa and cool it before mixing. 2. Now prepare your chicken. First dice a piece of chicken breast and boil the chicken. Mix some regular salt, tasting salt, black pepper while boiling. 3. Grate celery, onion and mix with peas and cashews. Mix cooled quinoa with it and curry powder and salt according to the taste. 4. For dressing, mix lemon juice, plain yogurt with mayonnaise and pour it on the salad.

 5. Super Simple Quinoa Salad

I call it super simple because, it’s really that easy and takes only a few minutes to prepare. Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups of quinoa
  • 2 cups fresh water
  • Cilantro – 1 handful amount
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 ripe Avocado
  • Honey
  • 1 cup of diced tomatoes
  • Lemon juice

Preparation: 1. Rinse quinoa well and boil it for 15 minutes in 2 cups of water. Cover it while boiling. 2. Meanwhile, dice tomatoes and grate avocado and cilantro. 3. In the middle of boiling, mix some olive oil and honey according to the taste with the quinoa. Sprinkle salt and pepper on it. 4. Add tomato, avocado and cilantro with boiled quinoa and mix some lemon juice too.

6. Quinoa Salad with Mango Dash

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups of cold water
  • 1/4 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 ripe mango (diced)
  • 1/4 cup of sliced almonds
  • 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds (roasted)
  • 1 medium sized cucumber (diced)
  • 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of cilantro
  • Salt and pepper according to taste.

Directions: 1. Boil quinoa in 2 cups of water in a pan on medium heat. Mix 1/4 tablespoon of salt before boiling and cover the pan while boiling. 2. After boiling properly, let the quinoa to cool. 3. Meanwhile, take the diced mango cubes and mix almond and pumpkin seeds with it. 4. Now add cooled quinoa with mango and other mixture. 5. Prepare a tasty dressing using olive oil, lemon juice, cilantro and pepper and pour it on the salad.

 7. Spicy Quinoa Salad


  • 1 cup of quinoa
  • 1 medium sized, well chopped onion
  • Half cup of chopped green chiles
  • 14-ounce can of sodium chicken broth (low) / vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup  chopped scallions
  • 1/4 cup  of pepitas (toasted)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • Salt
  • 2 teaspoons  of canola oil
  • 2 cloves  garlic (minced)
  • 3/4 cup  of fresh cilantro

Directions: 1. No boiling needed for quinoa. Take a dry skillet and toast the quinoa in reduced heat for 5 minutes. 2. Now heat some oil in a pan. Add onion and cook for a few minutes. Mix minced garlic and chiles and cook for another 1 or 2 minutes. Mix the quinoa and pour broth. Now cover the pan and cook for 20 minutes. 3. Mix cilantro, pepitas, lemon juice and salt with it. 5. Mix well with a large spoon and serve while the dish is hot.
