With a Little Blue Paint Grandma Turns a Village into an Art Masterpiece
Anežka (Agnes) Kašpárková probably does what many grandmothers everywhere have the luxury to do – sit back and chuckle as they watch us young ones try to maneuver the ins and outs of life. After all, they’ve already gone up and down life’s hills several times over (and rather quite successfully as some might add).
Unlike other grandmammas, however, Mimaw Agnes has a hobby that has made her very famous indeed. She likes to paint with blue paint and a small brush.
Oh, did I mention that Grandma Agnes is already ninety years old?
With her small brush and vibrant blue paint, Agnes creates intricate floral patterns inspired by traditional Moravian (southern Czech) artwork.
She tries to help make her hometown of Louka prettier one window or one door at a time. Agnes was inspired by another woman from the village who was doing similar work.
Of her art and fame, Agnes says, “I just enjoy it and I want to help.” If you live in Louka and hear a knock on your door, that might be Agnes asking if you want some pretty pictures on your house.
