The Healing Nature of Juicing

You may have heard about juicing. While it’s been around for ages, it’s gaining more popularity now. Juicing is simply extracting the juice from fruits and vegetables by using a juicer or a blender.

The Pros and Cons of Juicing

If you or perhaps your kids don’t enjoy eating your vegetables, juicing is a great way of overcoming this obstacle for your health. By mixing vegetable juice and fruit juice (or blending them together), you can get a delicious smoothie that tastes like pure fruit juice, with all the benefits of the vegetables. Your body is also able to more easily absorb the nutrients from the food, because it’s able to digest liquids more quickly. It’s also great, if you are on the go, because you drink a glass of juice much quicker than a plate full of fruits and vegetables. Which also makes it a portable meal.

There are very few cons to juicing. One would have to be, that if you are using a juicer, you are most likely leaving behind the skin and the pulp to get the juice. The pulp and the skin often times contain valuable nutrients like fiber. However, this is easy to overcome by simply using a blender, or pouring back some of the pulp into the drink. The only other con is that juicing may leave you hungrier than normal eating. Since your body is able to digest more quickly, you feel empty much quicker as well. However, if you have been on healthy diet, it shouldn’t be a hard adjustment, because your body digests vegetables and fruits very quickly anyway.  And if you aren’t, you’ll get used to it.

Blender vs Juicer

Now here’s the “debate”. Should you get a blender or a juicer? A juicer gets rid of the pulp, leaving you only with the juice. If you read the few paragraphs above, as I mentioned, a lot of nutrients are lost in the pulp and skin. So for this reason I prefer a blender. The juicer also leaves a bigger mess, as you have to dispose of the pulp and clean more parts. With the blender, you simply throw in a few veggies and fruits and press go. Then wash the container. Simple.

Juicing has a ton of benefits. When using organic vegetables and fruits in your juices (no other unhealthy ingredients), here are some benefits for your health:

The Juicing Diet

If you are looking to cleanse your body and turn around your health around for the better, juicing is the quickest way to do it. Juicing has been known to turn the lives around of people struggling with all kinds of health problems, including cancer. It’s been called the miracle cure. No, it’s not a sham. It works because by only drinking vegetables and fruits, your body is able to get all the nutrients it needs and cleanse your body of all toxins, etc. It’s the way nature intended for your body to be fueled. Your body is able to recover from years of processed foods etc, which may have in fact caused most of your health problems.  Whether you are looking to lose weight, reduce inflammation, or for an alternative way of curing cancer, the juicing diet is certainly something to try. Worst case scenario – you’ll be healthier than you ever were.

Best Blenders for Juicing

If juicing sounds like something that you want to try out, you probably need a blender. I’ve tested quite a few blenders and also did quite a bit of research on all of them. Some of them can be quite expensive, but it’s an investment towards good health. You will be saving money on medical bills and medicine. Plus, I’ve found that my Vitamix blender is way more reliable then the few cheap blenders that I had before (they broke). So since a lot of people have been asking me which blender to use, here are the best blenders for juicing:

Vitamix Professional Series 750 ($649) *This is the blender that I love and use.

• Vitamix 1709 Professional Series ($429)

Oster BLSTVB-000-000 Versa Blender ($211)

• Blendtec Home Blender ($399)

• Ninja BL660 Professional Blender ($139)
